Hi, I'm Maria — though you'll see my work published under my pen name, Ursula C. Kelly, which also happens to be my birth name. I am a writer, educator and staunch advocate for midlife women's visibility and health. At 56, I'm navigating menopause, practicing intermittent fasting, pondering identity, renegotiating relationships, and doing the deep work of understanding how my body actually functions, not how I think it should function! I'm learning that the challenges midlife women face—weight changes, brain fog, shifts in libido, metabolic changes, invisible aging—are symptoms of a transition that needs real conversation, real support, and real frameworks for understanding. My books explore interconnected themes: how our bodies actually change in midlife (intermittent fasting, metabolism, brain health), how to work with those changes instead of against them (menopause wisdom, somatic awareness), and how to rebuild our relationship with ourselves and our lives during this profound transition. I write from lived experience and genuine curiosity, not from expertise or authority (although I'm an avid researcher of the science behind these changes). I believe midlife women deserve honest information, permission to struggle, and community with other women navigating the same transitions. I'm committed to making midlife visible again, not as decline, but as transformation.
